Opportunities Throughout the U.S.

Support for Climate Solutions Using Natural Lands
The Nature Conservancy: Natural Climate Solutions Accelerator

The Natural Climate Solutions Accelerator grant program, administered by The Nature Conservancy, supports projects with potential to substantially increase the use of natural climate solutions throughout the United States. The focus is on helping to kick-start innovative and scalable approaches to capturing greenhouse gas emissions by using natural and working lands. The program strives to support and develop a portfolio of proven approaches and mechanisms to deploying natural solutions that landowners, state and federal governments, corporations, and other climate leaders can efficiently implement on a broad scale. Priority will be given to projects representing novel approaches for scaling climate solutions in a range of natural and working lands (forests, agricultural lands, grasslands, and wetlands) and geographies. Grants will range from $50,000 to $250,000. Online intent to apply forms should be submitted prior to the full proposal application deadline of August 16, 2019. Social Justice Litigation Efforts Funded
The Barbara McDowell and Gerald S. Hartman Foundation

The Barbara McDowell and Gerald S. Hartman Foundation aims to improve the economic well-being and social conditions of disadvantaged persons and groups in the United States by supporting nonprofit organizations that undertake systemic litigation. The Foundation provides grants for social justice litigation designed to have systemic impact in a wide range of areas, including civil and human rights, refugee and immigrant rights, human trafficking and domestic violence, low-income housing, children’s rights, disability rights, and disparities in community services and opportunities for economic development. Only legal matters that address systemic legal problems that will have a high impact on a particular area of the law will be considered. The application deadline is August 1, 2019. Grants Strengthen Native-Led Organizations
Native Voices Rising

Native Voices Rising (NVR), a project of Common Counsel Foundation and Native Americans in Philanthropy, is designed to support organizing, advocacy, and civic engagement in American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities. NVR provides general operating support grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to strengthen Native-led organizations that are building community leadership and power to improve the well-being of their communities. Grants focus on a wide range of critical issues, from human and civil rights, to reproductive justice, to environmental health and sacred sites protection. Eligible organizations should be rooted in a Native community, be led by Native people, hold a vision for change that improves the lives of Native community members, engage large numbers of community members to take action together, and seek to improve the policies and rules that impact the community. Youth Outdoor Education Programs in the U.S. and Canada Supported
BOGS Impact Fund

The BOGS Impact Fund, administered by the Outdoor Foundation, provides grants to nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and Canada offering outdoor education programs that encourage low-income and underserved youth to grow and learn outdoors throughout their lives. Selected programs should connect young people (ages three to 18) to outdoor education opportunities and be able to demonstrate how the outdoors acts as the perfect classroom to learn, play, and enjoy being a kid. Selected nonprofit organizations will be awarded $10,000 each year over a three-year period as well as ten to twenty pairs of BOGS Footwear each year of the grant. Opportunities for Specific Areas

Funds for Communications Solutions Aiding Californians with Disabilities
Ability Central

Ability Central, formerly the Disability Communications Fund, supports community-based nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions in California that establish projects and programs designed to benefit the communication needs of Californians with disabilities of all ages. Ability Central’s funding priorities for the upcoming grant program include the following: Training AT and AAC Experts, Facilitating Research and Innovation, and Collaboration and Exchange. Grants of $10,000 to $100,000 will be provided. The deadline for letters of intent is August 6, 2019; full grant applications are due October 9, 2019. Grants Enhance Communities in Oklahoma and Colorado Springs
Inasmuch Foundation

The Inasmuch Foundation is dedicated to the betterment of people, neighborhoods, and communities in Oklahoma. The Foundation primarily provides grants to nonprofit organizations throughout the state for programs that result in the greatest positive outcome for Oklahomans. (Support is also considered for nonprofit organizations that address the Foundation’s priorities in Colorado Springs, CO.) The Foundation’s areas of interest include education, community enhancement, and health and human services. Projects that involve collaborative community efforts to avoid duplication of services are encouraged. The upcoming deadline for letters of inquiry is August 15, 2019. Support for Health Initiatives Serving New Hampshire Children and Families
New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation

The New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of New Hampshire’s population, especially the vulnerable and underserved. The Foundation’s focus areas for Responsive Grantmaking include the following: the promotion of oral health for children through age five and pregnant women; the prevention of childhood obesity by enhancing places to be active and increasing consumption of healthy food for children up to age five; and the reduction of food insecurity by increasing opportunities for children and families to access affordable, healthy food. Single year grants of up to $20,000 and multi-year grants of up to $60,000 are provided. Letters of inquiry may be submitted from August 1 through August 15, 2019; invited applications will be due September 30, 2019. Visit the Foundation’s website to review the funding guidelines.

Projects to Enhance Ohio’s Justice System Funded
Ohio State Bar Foundation

The Ohio State Bar Foundation is committed to promoting public understanding of the law and to encouraging improvements in the justice system throughout Ohio. The Foundation’s core values include a commitment to a society served by a fair, impartial, and accessible system of justice. The Foundation’s grant program assists nonprofit organizations with law-related projects that promote the pursuit of justice, or promote public understanding of the rule of law. The application deadlines are February 15 and August 15, annually. (Potential grant applicants are required to participate in a pre-submission conference with Foundation staff prior to completing a grant application.) Grants Available to Help Pregnant or Parenting Youth
Department of Health and Human Services

The Maternity Group Home Program offers support to provide safe, stable, and appropriate shelter for pregnant or parenting youth and their dependent children. Services provided by the homes include parenting skills, child development, family budgeting, and health and nutrition education. The application deadline is July 25, 2019.

Program Supports Work Skills and Service Learning for Youth
Department of Labor

YouthBuild offers funding for organizations providing pre-apprenticeship services that support education, occupational skills training, and employment services to at-risk youth while they perform meaningful work and service to their communities. The application deadline is August 6, 2019.
