Support for Tobacco Control Efforts in the South and Midwest
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: Building Capacity to Reduce Tobacco Inequities in the South and Midwest
Building Capacity to Reduce Tobacco Inequities in the South and Midwest, an initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, seeks to support and engage black community members, persons of lower socioeconomic status, and rural residents in the South and Midwest in order to increase their ability to advocate for stronger, locally or regionally driven tobacco control and prevention policies and practices. Grants of up to $1.5 million will be provided to nonprofit organizations or public entities working with the target populations in the following 13 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Proposals can focus on a single state, on multiple states, or on the entire region. The current funding round will support up to six, two-year projects with the possibility of a second round of funding. The deadline for brief proposals is August 29, 2019; full proposals will be due November 11, 2019. Visit the Foundation’s website to review the call for proposals.

Solutions to Promote Better Health in the U.S. and Canada Funded
TD Bank Group: TD Ready Challenge
The TD Ready Challenge, an initiative of the TD Bank Group, is an annual North American initiative that provides up to ten $1 million (CAD) grants to catalyze innovative solutions for a changing world. Grants are awarded to organizations in the United States and Canada that have scalable solutions that will help open doors for a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow. The theme of the 2019 Challenge is Better Health. Support will be provided to organizations that have designed innovative solutions to help improve access to early detection and intervention for diseases, with the goal of helping to increase equitable health outcomes for more people. The focus is on programs, grounded in clinical solutions, that focus on preventative efforts, such as screening, early detection, and intervention innovations, aimed at reducing the onset, development, and severity of chronic disease and other illnesses. The emphasis is on reaching underserved and remote populations (Canada) and/or low- to moderate-income populations (U.S.). The application deadline is August 23, 2019. Grants Address Reentry Issues for Incarcerated Men and Women
The Bernard and Audre Rapoport Foundation: Reintegration/Reentry RFP
The mission of the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Foundation is to meet basic human needs while building individual and social resiliency. The Foundation has issued a request for proposals (RFP) addressing Reintegration/Reentry. The focus of this RFP is on projects that will make a substantial difference in the lives of incarcerated men and women after they have completed their sentences. These projects could take place in jail or prison, after incarceration, or both. The Foundation also plans to support research that examines the efficacy of current practices. Single or multi-year proposals ranging from $10,000 to $200,000 will be considered. Applicants may apply for a smaller pilot grant or planning grant with the potential to apply for a larger grant during a future grant cycle. The deadline for letters of inquiry is August 15, 2019. Community Programs for People with Autism Supported
Autism Speaks: Norma and Malcolm Baker Recreation Program
Autism Speaks supports nonprofit organizations nationwide that provide people with autism with social and educational experiences. Through the Norma and Malcolm Baker Recreation Program, Autism Speaks funds innovative community programs for people with autism of all ages. Grants are provided for summer camp programs, adult service programs, adult employment programs, physical fitness and sports programs, and swimming and water safety programs. Funds for Efforts to Prevent and Manage Chronic Diseases in Georgia
Healthcare Georgia Foundation: Direct Services Grant Program
The mission of Healthcare Georgia Foundation is to enable, improve, and advance the health and well-being of all Georgians. The Foundation’s Direct Services Grant Program will award grants to new and existing evidence-based best practice or promising approaches programs that address high burden and costly chronic diseases and underlying risk factors that have proven evidence-based interventions, including Asthma, Cardiovascular Disease, and Diabetes. Programs in both community and clinical settings will be considered. Nonprofit organizations, quasi-governmental organizations, and public health districts in Georgia that target vulnerable populations are eligible to apply for grants of up to $50,000. The Foundation’s Direct Services Grant Program will be accepting applications until 3 p.m. EST on August 9, 2019. Grants Encourage Broadband Use in Company Communities
Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program
The Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations that educate community members on the benefits of broadband and how to use it to improve their lives. Applying organizations must serve communities located in a Spectrum market. Grants are provided for programs focused on families and seniors in diverse, low-income, or minority-based communities. Funded programs should have a lasting, meaningful, and tangible impact (e.g. development of a new digital site or app, expansion of the capacity of a digital learning center, creation of a mobile computer lab, etc.). Grants generally range from $2,500 to $50,000. Applications will be accepted from July 29 through August 23, 2019. Support for New England Communities to Create a Portrait of High School Graduates
Barr Foundation: Building a Community-Driven Portrait of a High School Graduate
The Barr Foundation seeks to select up to 20 communities across New England to receive funding and technical assistance to build locally-driven portraits of their high school graduates. Through the development and use of a portrait of a graduate, high schools can embrace a robust definition of student success that ensures students are fully equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in college, career, and the community. Over a one-year period, grantees will each facilitate a local Working Team to lead the planning and research effort, deeply engage a range of stakeholders, participate in a cohort learning community, work with national experts, and visit at least one national example to inform and inspire their vision development. Selected communities must serve students in one of the six New England states, work with at least one high school, include a minimum of 100 high school students, and include a high school population that is at least 50% high needs students. Grants will range from $50,000 to $250,000. Local education agencies (LEAs) and nonprofit community organizations are eligible to apply. The application deadline is August 30, 2019. Programs Focusing on Social Determinants of Health in 25 States Funded
Anthem Foundation
The Anthem Foundation is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals and families in the communities in the 25 states that Anthem serves, as well as Washington, DC. The Foundation believes that targeting preventable health concerns, and addressing the social determinants that can impact them, will help create a healthier generation of Americans. The Foundation’s grantmaking focus is on initiatives that positively affect the conditions and social drivers addressed in its Healthy Generations program: healthy hearts, cancer prevention, healthy maternal practices, healthy diabetes prevention, and healthy active lifestyles. The Foundation also supports behavioral health programs that benefit people with disabilities. The upcoming application deadline for Program Grants is August 9, 2019. Low-Income Housing for Seniors Supported
Department of Housing and Urban Development
The Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program provides funding for the development and ongoing operation of supportive rental housing for very low-income persons, aged 62 years or older. The program seeks to expand affordable housing opportunities that are physically designed and that have a robust set of services that will allow seniors to live independently and age in community. The application deadline is August 28, 2019.

Fish and Wildlife Service
The Recovery Implementation program provides support to secure information about endangered, threatened, or candidate species; to aid in the recovery of these species; to avert listing of species pursuant to the Endangered Species Act; and to help conserve the ecosystems upon which these species depend. The application deadline is September 3, 2019.
